2009: Letting Go of the Old and Embracing the New
Every new year brings with it the hope that our dreams and desires will become a reality. We do have the power to create our own realities, when we let go of the old. To embrace the new, to embrace your dreams and desires and to welcome them into your life, you need first to let go of the old. You need to let go of old behaviors and old ideas, you need to do some retraining of the mind. The subconscious mind holds our true beliefs and many of them are negative. These beliefs were acquired from childhood, from the environment and are not necessary what you want as the ‘programming’ that runs your life. If you have subconscious beliefs that say you’re not good enough or life is hard or nobody likes me that is what you’re going to attract into your life. To attract health, prosperity, love, and abundance you need to go inward and change your mind first. The law of attraction will then take care of bringing good into your life.
Here are a few ideas to let go of the old and welcome the new:
1. Start by setting the intention that you’re only going to focus on the present moment. This is a new year and whatever happened in the past is gone and happened for a reason. Now is a new moment and it’s precious. Savor every moment of your day.
2. Start your day by looking into the mirror and make eye contact with yourself. Tell yourself how beautiful you are, inside and out. Tell yourself how precious and powerful you are. Embrace yourself, literally. Know you are a child of the Divine and that the Divine is taking care of you at every moment. Feel that Power in you.
3. Throughout your days, count your blessings. See every experience as an opportunity to grow, to serve, to love. Know everything happens for a reason and that reason is to help you evolve, to have faith, to love.
4. Resolve to be happy no matter what. Go through your day choosing to laugh and smile more often. Know this is a beautiful life and that it is your choice to be happy. This is true freedom and no experience can take this away from you when there is absolute faith of knowing that everything happens for a reason and everyone is on a perfect journey.
5. Visualize your dreams and desires as if they’re already in your life. “Whasoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matt.” 21:22. Simply give thanks for all the blessings you are constantly receiving in your life.
American essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Man is what he thinks all day long.” At the end of the day, you need just remember you are a child of the Divine. You need to awaken to your true Powers by letting go of the old. Embrace this year and know it is the best ever. Many blessings to you.
