Time to Thank the past and Let it Go
This is the time of year we naturally look back, reviewing actions, experiences, events. Life brings many experiences which are out of our control. Many others we control and we have actually created them. But the past is gone and we need to move forward. We can’t move forward and experience the future with all of its possibilities if we’re stuck thinking about the past, regretting it, with guilt, anger or any other negative emotion.
One way to release the past is to be grateful for it. Of course, it is easy to be grateful for what we consider blessings. I want to talk about being grateful for the things you’re not so happy about. How do you become grateful for the experiences and actions you regret? How do you become grateful for having being sick or unemployed or hurt?
Turn every single experience into a blessing. See everything that has happened (or hasn’t happened) in your life as a blessing, because every experience is giving you the opportunity to grow. How do you see experiences as blessings?
First, know in your heart that everything happens for a reason and that in each experience, no matter what, there is an opportunity for you to evolve. The reason we are here on Earth is to evolve as Spiritual Beings.
Second, ask yourself, how was this experience an opportunity? What did I learn? If you were hurt, then the experience may be the opportunity to learn to forgive, to know that you can’t give your power to anyone, and that in the future, you resolve to respond with things a little different. If you lost a job, the blessing may be faith, to absolutely know that everything is temporary, and that you will look back and realize it was for something better. If you have regrets about things you haven’t accomplished, maybe the opportunity is to learn to forgive yourself. To know that was matters in life is how loving and caring you are, not what you accomplish or not.
